A gentle, relaxing class to heal, soothe, ground and balance, so releasing stress and tension, to leave us feeling energised. The Sun (Ha) is in fiery Leo, whose ruling 'planet' is the Sun. Leo rules the heart where it is important to learn to receive as well as give love for our health. The Moon (Tha) is first in Aries, ruling the head and muscles and so the mind, which is not in the head but in the whole body. When we are relaxed in our mind we are relaxed in our body and vice versa.
The Sun (Ha) starts off in airy Gemini; the sign of the twins it is about duality. The Moon (Tha) starts off in earthy Virgo, focusing on soothing of the sympathetic nervous system with the breath. The Moon then moves into airy Libra which is about balance. The Moon then moves into Scorpio when we focus on the hidden areas we don't want to talk about. Lastly, the Sun moves into Cancer, which rules the feminine.
A gentle but strengthening and grounding class to heal and soothe, releasing stress and grounding nervous energy. The Moon (Tha) just starts off in Gemini, ready for the New Moon/partial solar eclipse, ruling the shoulders, arms, hands, lungs, central nervous system and the nerves. Then it moves into Cancer, ruling the feminine, nurturing areas of the stomach, womb, breasts, breastbone and the digestive system. Lastly, it finishes just in Leo, ruling the spine, heart, upper back and spleen. We may feel things more emotionally in these areas when the Moon is in their sign.
We can release all that no longer works for us, by the stretching, strengthening and grounding of our practice. The Sun (Ha) is in airy Gemini; the sign of the twins it is about duality, or pairs: it rules the shoulders, where we carry responsibility, the arms, hands and fingers with which we express ourselves. The Moon starts off in watery Pisces and we can feel quite ungrounded at this time, so it's important to focus on the feet, keeping them firmly on the ground. Next, the Moon moves into Aries, ruling the head and mind. When we are relaxed in our mind we are relaxed in our body and vice versa.
We can release emotions that no longer works for us, by the stretching, strengthening and grounding of our practice, so allowing us the strength to move forward. The Sun (Ha) is in airy Gemini; the sign of the twins it is about duality, or pairs: it rules the shoulders, where we carry responsibility, the arms, hands and fingers with which we express ourselves, the lungs, the source of the breath and so life, the thymus gland, the upper ribs and, lastly, the nerves and the central nervous system that runs parallel to the spine, where the dualities meet to centre us. The Moon (Tha) starts off in Sagittarius ruling the thighs and femur, giving us structure and power to move forward but with the hips guiding our direction.
A gentle but strengthening and grounding class to heal and soothe, releasing stress and boosting the immune system. The Sun (Ha) is in earthy Taurus, which rules the neck, the junction between the head and the body, carrying so much vital information in the jugular, the trachea and the central nervous system. Problems with the neck indicate being too much in your head or too much in the body, and we need to find the balance here. A full session starting with lying down and connecting with the breath, easing into floor asanas, a grounded sun salutation, pranayama breath work and asanas to extend, balance, twist, side bend and inversion. Finishing with a relaxing, elemental meditation and visualisation.
The last session with the Sun (Ha) in airy Aquarius. Aquarius rules the lower leg: the shin, where the bone, representing our deep, core spiritual beliefs, is close to the surface and can feel so vulnerable as we step forward, pushing our beliefs out there. The calf behind is made of soft tissue that represents our mind, which hopefully offers energy and support to our beliefs. Aquarius also rules the ankles, which we can easily turn when we are not feeling supported, either emotionally or in our outer world. The Sun then moves into Pisces, ruling the feet and the immune system. We can feel quite ungrounded at this time, so it is important to focus on the feet, keeping them firmly on the ground, while still allowing ourselves to dream in grounded reality, to make it happen.
A full session of asanas, starting with a relaxation to bring focus on the breath and floor work. Focus for the Sun in Libra is on the lower back (lumbar region) where we may have issues due to insecurity. We work by strengthen the core muscles in the abdomen as when we're strong in our whole being. Also, Libra rules the adrenal glands, where adrenaline and the start of the stress response come from, and the kidneys, which respond to fear. Libra also encourages us to find our inner balance, as we enter the darkness of winter. Working with the Moon in Gemini we use the shoulders, arms and hands, releasing tension and using them to help in other ways, especially in the lungs to help us breathe fully. Also, grounding and releasing from the central nervous system and the nerves. For the Moon in Cancer, its home, we work with the feminine, nurturing, watery areas (whether we're male or female) of the breasts, the stomach, the womb (if we have one), the digestive system. Gemini works with the upper ribs and Cancer the lower ribs. Then, for the Moon in Leo, we work with the heart, the spine, the spleen and the upper back. We always practise some pranayama, a balance and take the spine in all its planes of direction and finish with a relaxing meditation and visualisation.
